FOREO Bear review + before and after

Does the promise of reduced wrinkles, improved skin firmness, and a more lifted appearance sound appealing to you? Then you’ll want to stick around for this comprehensive FOREO Bear review.

FOREO Bear is one of the most popular at-home microcurrent devices on the market. This convenient device is clinically proven to improve wrinkles, fine lines, skin firmness, and elasticity in just 1 week, according to the brand.

But there’s no denying that FOREO Bear is an investment, as it typically retails for about £320.

I’ve been trying the microcurrent device 5x a week consistently for 1 month, and I wanted to let you know whether I’ve seen any difference in my skin. Keep reading for my honest FOREO Bear review as well as some before and after photos to see whether this microcurrent device truly works.

What is FOREO?

FOREO is a popular Swedish skincare device specialist that offers effective and clinically tested treatments for improved, healthy skin. It’s all about making self-care simple, easy, accessible, and enjoyable. Whether’s it a silicone cleansing gadget, at-home spa facial treatment, LED light therapy device, or microcurrent tool, FOREO offers a wide range of skincare technologies for every need.

How do microcurrent devices work?

At-home microcurrent devices work by sending safe, low-voltage currents to your muscles that are similar to the natural electrical currents in the body. As these devices target and tone muscles, they can help to give your skin a more lifted and defined look with a fimer texture and reduced fine lines. Alongside an immediate noticeable lifted look, microcurrent devices claim to deliver long-term benefits too.

The currents aren’t as strong as those you’d get done professionally, but the devices are way more convenient and affordable in the long term.

FOREO Bear claims

FOREO Bear is an FDA-cleared microcurrent device that promises to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, contour the face, improve skin elasticity, and firm skin in just 1 week. The device features an innovative anti-shock system, which scans and measures skin’s resistance to electricity and automatically adjusts microcurrent intensity for safety and comfort.

It visibly improves signs of aging by gently energizing & firming the 69 muscles in your face & neck. Experience clinical results, thanks to science-backed technology.

FOREO

As well as delivering a microcurrent treatment, FOREO Bear features T-Sonic massage, which claims to boost microcirculation and lymphatic drainage. There are 10 microcurrent intensity levels to choose from, and you can decide whether to have T-Sonic pulsations on or off.

The microcurrent device is made from silicone and promises to be 100% waterproof. This means you can actually wash the device with soap and water, and simply pat and dry it with a clean towel. FOREO Bear is wireless and USB chargeable, so it’s very convenient to travel with. You get 90 treatments per charge.

How to use FOREO Bear

Begin by gently cleansing and drying your face. Next, apply a conductive serum. The FOREO Serum is the best option, as it’s designed specifically to work with FOREO Bear. Apply the serum evenly across your face and neck, and massage it until it’s fully absorbed.

Next, it’s treatment time. You can either select the microcurrent intensity yourself and get working or download the accompanying FOREO app to follow a specific treatment. All of the treatments in the app are around 2.5 minutes. I’d highly recommend following the treatments in the app, as they’re really easy to follow and mean you target both sides of your face evenly. There are currently 3 treatments to choose from in the app, which target different areas of your face.

After doing your microcurrent treatment, simply follow up with your desired skincare. I typically use the device at night, so I apply a night cream after using FOREO Bear.

FOREO Bear before and after

Before I dive into my FOREO Bear review, I wanted to share a few before and after photos. The after photos were taken after 4 weeks of consistent use. I used the device around 5x per week and followed a 2.5-minute treatment from the app each time.

These photos show the before and after from the front, left side, and right side of my face. I didn’t take the photo directly after following a treatment to provide an indication of medium-term effects.

Even though there’s really not much difference in the before and after photos, I’ve got a lot more to discuss in my review below. I think my cheeks look a bit more toned and my jawline more defined. Especially in the front photo, I think my face overall looks a bit more lifted.

Honest FOREO Bear review

I’m genuinely impressed with FOREO Bear.

Firstly, this was surprisingly straightforward to set up. I’ve used several skincare devices where the instruction manual is unnecessarily lengthy. This one was super easy to follow. After charging the device for a few hours and registering it on the app, you can get started.

I love the look and feel of the device. The pretty silicone pink is very comfortable to hold and is also lightweight, so you don’t get any arm ache from holding up a weighty device. As the microcurrent device is small (palm-sized), it would be really convenient to travel with. I’d happily take this device on holiday!

Speaking of convenience, the battery life is fantastic. I accidentally didn’t turn the device off, and it stayed switched on for about 3 days. I even managed to get a treatment done when I finally realised! The fact that you can get 90 treatments out of a single charge is impressive, especially for a device so small.

FOREO Serum is cooling and hydrating, so it feels pleasant on the skin.

Even though the FOREO Bear before and after photos may not look really impressive, I’ve noticed a difference in my skin. My skin is noticeably more toned and lifted immediately after using the device. Although these effects only last for a few hours, it’s an effective way to make your face look more scultped quickly. And for medium-term results, my face is more toned and lifted since using the device.

But, something that my camera won’t pick up is the changes in how my skin feels. I can tell that it’s firmer, plumper, and smoother since using FOREO Bear.

The device also slightly reduced the appearance of the fine line on my forehead, which is fab.

I love following the app’s treatments. They’re super relaxing and fun. It also helps me evenly target both sides of my face.

Overall, I can definitely see an improvement in my skin since using FOREO Bear and can’t wait to keep using it to see further results.

Where to buy

Retailing for £319 for both the serum and FOREO Bear, you can purchase this bundle directly from FOREO. This is the same price as buying FOREO Bear by itself, so it’s definitely worth getting the serum in the bundle.

This is undeniably expensive, so if you’re buying this product, you need to see it as a long-term investment. It’s far cheaper and less time consuming than getting a microcurrent facial done professionally every few months.

I believe it’s worth the money, as the device has made a difference to my skin. It would also make an amazing gift for a loved one!

Do I recommend FOREO Bear?

Absolutely! More mature skins will particularly appreciate the device’s anti-ageing benefits, but all ages can benefit from the more toned and lifted appearance.

Rating: 5 stars

I’m really happy with my FOREO Bear results! It definitely deserves 5 stars.

Foreo Bear Review 2024: I Tried the Viral Microcurrent Device

Let’s just say my cheekbones are cheekbone-ing, mmmk!

We may earn commission from links on this page, but we only recommend products we love. Promise.

For years, I’ve been on a mission to get more chiseled-looking facial features. CoolScultpting, EmFace, facial fillers, masseter Botox—I’ve tried it all. But the number one thing that’s actually helped me get a more contoured look? Microcurrent. I’ve tried in-office microcurrent facials, but I’ve honestly noticed the biggest difference from consistently using microcurrent devices, like the NuFace, at home. Which is why I was v excited and intrigued when Foreo launched their Bear Smart Microcurrent Facial Firming Device. The at-home skincare tool combines microcurrent with T-sonic pulsations to sculpt your features, help with lymphatic drainage, and create an overall sense of relaxation.

I watched dozens of tutorials, downloaded the Foreo app, and implemented the tool into my routine five times a week for a full three weeks. And I’ve gotta say, I am loving my results. But you might also be wondering: What does the Foreo Bear even do? How does the Foreo Bear work? And are there any cons to microcurrent? Keep scrolling for all the answers—plus a full rundown of my experience testing the Foreo Bear (with before-and-afters, of course).

Foreo Bear Microcurrent Facial Device
Pros
  • Combines microcurrent with vibrations to help firm, lift, and depuff skin
  • Has a three-minute auto shut-off
  • Pairs with the Foreo app for guided treatments
Cons

What does the Foreo Bear do?

The Foreo Bear uses a technology called microcurrent. Microcurrent is a painless, low-grade electrical current that helps encourage your skin cells to help build muscle and produce collagen and elastin, dermatologist Heather D. Rogers, MD, previously told Cosmo. All of this can potentially help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, plump and firm skin, and create a more “toned” look to your face. But what sets the Foreo Bear apart from other microcurrent devices is that it also utilizes T-sonic pulsations (aka vibrations) that can promote lymphatic drainage and circulation, which helps depuff your skin and make your treatment feel nice and relaxing.

Does Foreo Bear really work?

In my experience, yes, the Foreo Bear really “works” if your goal is to help tighten, firm, and tone your skin. The thing I love so much about microcurrent is that you see an immediate difference in the tone and tightness of your skin, and those results are compounded over time. Meaning right after one treatment, my cheekbones, jawline, and brows look lifted and my face looks more chiseled. But after three weeks of use, I also notice my skin is overall firmer and plumper. I mean, if my before and afters don’t speak for themselves.

Before the Foreo Bear: See puffy cheeks and eyes and droopy brows. Womp.

After the Foreo Bear on my full face. Notice lifted brows, chiseled cheekbones, and a more pronounced jawline.

But keep in mind: At-home microcurrent definitely isn’t as effective as strong, in-0ffice treatments, nor will it offer the same results as Botox, fillers, or laser facials. For the best results, dermatologists recommend once a month in-office microcurrent, plus daily at-home microcurrent with a device like the Foreo Bear.

How to use the Foreo Bear:

Before I could use my Foreo Bear, I had to connect to the Foreo For You app first. The app allows you to register your device, watch guided tutorials, and create your own sequences with the device. Once my Foreo Bear was synced with the app, I prepped my face by washing with a gentle, oil-free cleanser (you’ll want to skip any oil-based cleansers or products, as they can affect the microcurrent) and coating my face in Foreo’s Serum Serum Serum. This is a water-based, gel-like serum that helps conduct the microcurrent and give my skin a dewy look.

To start, I switched on the device by pressing the middle button one time, choose one of the five levels of intensity, and turned on the vibrations (which you can also turn off by double-pressing the button, btw). At first go, I followed one of the guided treatments on the Foreo For You app, which pairs with the device to automatically and gives you full instructions as you go, making it legit so simple to DIY.

But because as I am somewhat of a ~microcurrent pro,~ I started creating my own sequences. I always start under my jawline and make three to five passes from the middle of my face to my ears, gliding the device in an upward, slow-ish motion. Then, I do my lower cheeks, under my cheekbones, under my eyes, then above my eyebrows. The device auto shuts-off after three minutes, which is great if you’re on a time crunch, but I always extend my sessions because I need more time to really snatch my features.

Is it okay to use the Foreo Bear every day?

Yes, it’s okay to use the Foreo Bear every day—it’s actually recommended if you want to get the best results. Microcurrent devices are non-invasive and generally non-irritating, so there’s no harm in using them daily. TBH, I don’t use my Foreo Bear daily because I’m lazy and get similar results by using it five days a week. But no, you can’t “overdo” microcurrent. Consider it like a workout: You do it once a day, give your skin and muscles a lil time to recover, then pick back up where ya left off.

What are the cons of microcurrent facial?

IMO, the biggest con of a DIY microcurrent facial is the time commitment. It can take around three to five minutes to complete, which can be annoying to add to my routine when I’m tired or busy. You also have to be cognizant of the products you have on your skin before microcurrent, since oils can prohibit the conductivity of the current.

You might also feel some tingling and facial twitching from microcurrent, which is totally normal. “The current can cause your orbicularis oculi muscle—the muscle around your eyes—to contract,” says dermatologist Karan Lal, MD. “On the upper face, around your eyes, the muscles intertwine, which is why this can happen,” he continues. “It’s not bad; it’s just the current from the device kind of transversing to adjacent muscles.” For me, I just turned down the intensity when I felt any twitching, and the sensation entirely went away.

Do you have to use serum with Foreo Bear?

Yes, you have to use some type of serum or gel with the Foreo Bear in order for the microcurrent to conduct, as well as for the spheres to glide over your skin. I’ve used an array of different serums and gels with the device so far, including Foreo’s recommended serum, along with aloe vera, which many TikTokers swear by because it’s (1) cheap, (2) comes in large quantities, and (3) easy to find.

TYPES OF MICROCURRENT

BEAR™ 2 go features 2 types of microcurrent, unique to FOREO. Each has its own special benefit, and is implemented into the video-guided treatments on the app, for optimized results.

Steady current stimulates muscles to strengthen them, while tightening skin above.

Repeatedly staggers current from low to high frequency, gently coaxing muscles into naturally lifting, for a contoured look.

How to use BEAR™ 2 go htu container

Make sure both your skin and BEAR™ device are clean and dry. Then apply FOREO SUPERCHARGED™ Serum evenly across all areas of the face / neck you wish to treat, leaving a thin mask-like layer on the surface of the skin.

Press the universal button to turn your BEAR™ 2 go on. Adjust the microcurrent intensity by quick-pressing the button again, once for each level. Access guided treatment videos and more settings via the FOREO app.

Note: BEAR™ 2 go’s default setting is ‘Beginner Mode’ (microcurrent intensity levels 1 – 3). If you wish to access ‘Pro Mode’ (microcurrent intensity levels 4 – 6), you can do so via ‘Settings’ in the app. Once you select ‘Pro Mode’, the intensity indicator lights on your device will refer to the Pro Mode levels (4 – 6).

Lightly press both metallic spheres to your skin, and slowly glide the device upward and outward across your cheekbones and forehead, around your mouth and over your jawline and neck, as desired.

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • Microcurrent devices like BEAR™ 2 go must be used with a conductive serum. For optimal results, we recommend using FOREO SUPERCHARGED™ Serum 2.0 — developed specifically for use with FOREO’s microcurrent devices, and clinically proven to significantly increase type 1 collagen production.
  • Leave a thin, mask-like layer of FOREO SUPERCHARGED™ Serum on skin, so the device can glide smoothly. If treating many areas in one session, you can apply the serum to each area before you use the device on that area.
  • Never use microcurrent devices like BEAR™ 2 go on the midline bone of the neck, or within the orbital bone.
  • Make sure that both microcurrent spheres are touching your skin during your treatment. Always glide the device in upward and outward motions, from the center of your face toward your hairline.

Cleaning your BEAR™ 2 go

Always clean BEAR™ 2 go thoroughly after use. Wash the metallic spheres and silicone surface with water and soap, then rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth or towel. After use, we recommend spraying the device with FOREO’s Silicone Cleaning Spray and rinsing with warm water for optimal results.

NOTE: Never use cleaning products containing alcohol, petrol or acetone, as they may irritate the skin and damage the silicone.
